Types of Oxidizers & Scrubbers for the Petrochemical Industry

- Chemical Gas Scrubbers – remove petrochemical and gas residues in exhaust vapors through chemical reactions with acidic or basic cleaning solutions that inject into the waste stream.
- Recuperative Oxidizers – using combustion to destroy the targeted pollutants, most effective for exhaust streams containing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and particulate concentrations that would foul other air pollution control equipment.
- Enclosed Flares – can treat high VOC exhaust streams, offering destruction rates greater than 99%.
- Catalytic Oxidizers – handle low, stable VOC concentrations and are suitable to treat petrochemical process exhaust streams that do not contain high levels of particulate or poisons.
